After using Twitter for over a year and increasing her fan base and followers steadily (she’s currently at over 35,000 followers) and enjoying the discussions she had and the friends she made, Marcome (pronounced Mar-ko-may) decided it was time to pay back the community with a special surprise: the Twitter Song.
Why Use Twitter as an Artist?
Says Marcome about the power of Twitter: “I really started using Twitter in 2009, and it has changed my life. I met kindred spirits I never imagined possible. … I enjoy the direct and immediate contact and feedback that I have with my followers and fans. If you would have told me that my best friends at work would be from all over the world years ago, I would have said, ‘How?’ Now I know…. Twitter!”
Released in early February of this year, “ Twitter Me Some Love ” was composed, produced and turned into a video in such a way that regular Twitter users, novices and non-Twitter users alike can enjoy it. Nature and connecting with one another in a wired and therefore shrinking world are central and universal themes. Twitter users (or tweeps) can in addition enjoy the Twitter terminology delicately woven into the song lyrics.
Twitter Me Some Love or the Twitter Song
The Twitter Song is a collaboration between new age singer Marcome, who wrote the lyrics and composed the song, fellow singer and artist Bruno Pelletier, who lend his voice for the song, and bass player Marc Langis, just back in time after a 14-year stint working with Celine Dion. A music video was indispensable to make the song universal and reach as many people as possible.
Says director François Kiraly in the February 4, 2010 post “The Making of Marcomé’s Twitter Me Some Love Song and Music Video” on Marcome’s blog: “I was inspired by Marcomé, the woman, the musical artist. … The girl in the clip is the avatar of Marcomé traveling the world like in ‘Tron’, traveling a virtual world, which in this case is Twitter. I felt there was a universal concept behind the song, a planetary subject. … The bird is the guide that travels the earth.”

About Twitter
Twitter is a free social networking service that was founded in 2006. Like a micro blogging site, it lets users post messages of 140 characters or shorter. Initially revolving around the question “What are you doing?”, the reach of Twitter has since expanded: Twitter users can compile lists and groups and many use it to promote their business, find out more about a certain topic or connect with people who share the same interests and hobbies.
Marcome’s example illustrates how especially musicians, artists and writers can use Twitter successfully to keep in touch with their fan base. More personal and interactive than even a blog, Twitter users can establish relationships with their followers that go beyond the one-sidedness of traditional media.
